When radial loads act on a Tapered roller bearing, an axial load is generated from the reaction of the internal contact angle of the
bearing. This induced axial load creates a separating force on the cup and cone which is normally offset by mounting Tapered roller
bearings in pairs or as multi-row sets.

Bearings designated as E ...... J (E prefix and J suffix) comply with ISO standards in sub-unit dimensions. The cups and cones of
these bearings are internationally interchangeable.

Conventional Design
Cylindrical Roller Bearings of conventional design are available in 10 configurations as shown in Fig. 1.
Configurations N,NU,NN and NNU will not sustain axial loading. These configurations must be used as the float end bearing.
Configurations NF, NJ, NUH are designed with the capability of sustaining axial loading in one direction.
Configuration NUH is basically an NU bearing with the addition of a guide ring (an "L" ring).
The NUH dimensional data is the same as the NH bearing configuration.
Configuration NF, NJ, and NUH can sustain axial loading in one direction.
Configuration NH, NP, and NUP have bi-directional thrust load-carrying-capability.
The suffix of the bearing number indicates:
E : high capacity
G : polyamide cage
The bearing with polyamide cage should be used at less than 120ÂșC operating temperature.

Technical Data

The rubber seal of the cover contacts with the shaft by its two lips, as shown in Fig. 2.2 and 2.3. By filling the groove between the two lips with grease, an excellent sealing effect is obtained and, at the same time, the contacting portions of the lips are lubricated. Furthermore, the groove is so designed that when the shaft is inclined the rubber seal can move in the radial direction.
When bearing units are exposed to splashes of water rather than to dust, a drain hole (5 to 8 mm, 0.2 to 0.3 inches in diameter) is provided at the bottom of the cover, and grease should be applied to the side of the bearing itself instead of into the cover.

2.4 Secure fittingFastening the bearing to the shaft is effected by tightening the ball-end set screw, situated on the inner ring. This is a unique bearing feature which prevents loosening, even if the bearing is subjected to intense vibrations and shocks.
2.5 Self-aligningWith the bearing unit, the outer surface of the ball bearing and the inner surface of the housing are spherical, thus this bearing unit has self-aligning characteristic. Any misalignment of axis that may arise from poor workmanship on the shaft or errors in fitting will be properly adjusted.

2.6 Higher rated load capacityThe bearing used in the unit is of the same internal construction as those in bearing series 62 and 63, and is capable of accommodating axial load as well as radial load, or composite load. The rated load capacity of this bearing is considerably higher than that of the corresponding self-aligning ball bearings used for standard Plummer blocks.

2.7 Light weight yet strong housing
Housings for bearing units come in various shapes. They consist of either high-grade cast iron, one-piece casting, or of precision finished pressed steel, the latter being lighter in weight. In either case, they are practically designed to combine lightness with maximum strength.
2.8 Easy mountingThe bearing unit is an integrated unit consisting of a bearing and housing. As the bearing is prelubricated at manufacture with the correct amount of high-grade lithium base, it can be mounted on the shaft just as it is. It is sufficient to carry out a short test run after mounting.
2.9 Accurate fitting of the housingIn order to simplify the fitting of the pillow block and flange type bearing units, the housings are provided with a seat for a dowel pin, which may be utilized as needed.
2.10 Bearing replaceabilityThe bearing used in the bearing unit is replaceable. In the event of bearing failure, a new bearing can be fitted to the existing housing.

The proven, simple operating concept was retained and supplemented by a large number of new functionalities. In addition to vibration measurement, contact-free temperature measurement and data collection, the system is now also capable of carrying out static and dynamic balancing tasks. As a result, imbalance can not only be detected but easily and efficiently eliminated. For this purpose, the optionally available Balancing Kit is required. With the aid of the software installed on the system, the user is guided through the balancing procedure step by step. The results of the balancing procedure as well as the vibration measurement are transferred to the software FAG Trend line where they are analyzed and evaluated. The completely revised F’IS Viewer offers the user a large number of auxiliary functions that make data analysis considerably easier. In particular, the newly integrated bearing database containing approx. 20 000 bearings from various manufacturers gives simpler and more efficient analysis of the measured data. As a result, it is very easy to compare the measured data with possible damage frequencies. A completely new feature is the optional functionality of automatic detection of measurement points. RFID tags are applied at the measurement points and are thus detected automatically by the system. This contributes not only to prevention of errors but also to optimization of measurement time. Further highlights of the system: an expanded memory capacity, allowing storage of up to 1600 measurement points in parallel with up to 270 time signals, the speed measurement function and the revised report generator system. FAG Detector II
Detector II is a portable vibration measuring device and data collector in one. Using this economical device is straightforward and easy to learn. It weighs approx. 450 g and is highly suitable for monitoring extensive plant where measurement rounds involving large distances must be covered. Detector II picks up vibration signals at predetermined measurement points and calculates the effective values for vibration rate and acceleration. It can be used to monitor machine vibrations in accordance with ISO 10816 as well as the rolling bearing condition using the demodulated signal detection method. Temperatures can also be measured by non-contact means using an infrared sensor. The data collected by the device are transferred to a computer. They are then evaluated, analyzed and presented in diagrammatic form with the aid of the software Trendline. Any incipient damage can thus be detected at an early stage. Detector II can also be used by personnel who have no experience of vibration measurement. A very useful feature in this respect is the “e-mail button”. This allows the collected data to be sent to an
